Owner First House of Prayer Baptist Church has applied to demolish this raised basement, Art-and-Crafts style double shotgun. It was Freddy and Dorothy’s Restaurant, back in the day.

This neglected responsibility will be replaced by a vacant lot. The rear wall has fallen off. I am shocked at how many properties are left to blight and later demolished by churches. It dawned on me that there must be a house heaven. Angels fix them up and live in them.

No, churches just turn them into parking lots.

  2. Laureen and I have spent days in Central City. We are trying to get an idea of the Church/Citizen Ratio. How many vacant lots or parking lots there are and who is utilizing these facillities.
There has been much written about this issue from blogs to the New York Times. It is a Nationwide concern.

  3. I know that building on Washington. Email me–I’d love, if I can/could, to wander with y’all. Central City has so much I want to explore/discover.

  4. Friends,
Would you mind tagging “corner buildings” when they come up. In my humble opinion, demolition of a corner structure has a profound impact on a block face, possibly more profound than any other demolition.
