On April 20, The Lens will host a community forum, Rising waters: How land loss is eating away at food sovereignty on the Louisiana coast.

Panelists will discuss how hundreds of years of traditional farming and ranching are imperiled by the one-two punch of rising sea level and sinking land, as well as talk about what is being done to save as much as possible. Two leaders of Native American tribes will be joined by reporter Barry Yeoman who captured their stories and spread them to a national audience through the podcast “Gravy,” a production of the Southern Foodways Alliance.  The event will be moderated by WWNO’s Tegan Wendland.

The event is free for members with a suggested donation of $10 for the general public.  Can’t make it but appreciate what we do? Consider making a gift.
