School’s in session! Take your seats at The Lens’ September Breakfast with the Newsmakers. Lens education reporter Marta Jewson will interview Ken Ducote, the newly appointed head of the Greater New Orleans Collaborative of Charter Schools. He is quoted as saying, “quality, equity, efficiency and integrity are rarely achieved without tenacity.” All of which are valuable as the charter school movement grows. We look forward to learning more about that growth along with Ducote’s thoughts on the state of school facilities in the city, the $1.8 billion rebuilding program, how charters manage and find their facilities and a recently passed property tax to benefit school buildings.
The involvement of civically engaged community members like you is crucial to the future of our city and our coast. We encourage your questions. If you’d like to pose a question in advance, please email Anne Mueller by Sept. 16.
In the meantime, read more about Ducote and New Orleans schools.
