Edward Hynes Charter School will move Dec. 19 to a new 90,000-square-foot building on Harrison Avenue, school principal Michelle Douglas told the board at its monthly meeting, Dec. 5.
“All major works are complete,” and the staff and Lakeview community are excited about the move Douglas said. “The only thing that’s not quite ready to be unveiled is the gymnasium,” Douglas said during her principal’s report. “It should be ready two weeks into the new school term.”
Most of the hour-long meeting focused on logistics of the move from the school’s current quarters at 3774 Gentilly Blvd.
Douglas said staff and faculty will begin moving at around 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 19., and the move should take about three days.
“Our furniture arrived today and will be assembled and installed by the end of the week,” Douglas added. “The teachers have also been given permission to begin packing as long as it doesn’t interrupt classroom activities.”
The meeting concluded with a gift exchange among board members.
The next board meeting is on January 23, 2012.
