*UPDATE: APPROVED*
Carrollton
2418 S. Carrollton Ave. Owner Pivach-Perino Realty has applied to demolish this former Canal Villere grocery to be replaced with a Walgreens.

I have been told that in order to demolish the Building there needs to be a redevelopment plan in place, I plan on attending the meeting.
Karen,
When is that meeting? Is it open to the public?

Cewiedel, Thank you for drawing attention to this project through your Squidoo Lens.
Maybe you could find a forum in among the New Orleans bloggers to tell us how you’ve used Squidoo to draw attention to hurricane relief?
Karen,
Since the 1960’s that parcel of land has had BOTH a grocery store and a drugstore. The picture you’re showing is the site of a former K&B drugstore, which became a RiteAid drugstore.
The owners are replacing a drugstore with a drugstore and grocery store with a grocery store. You’re either a liar or an incompetent for identifying a drugstore building as a grocery store.
You have some nerve calling anyone else incompetent.
I just copied what was in the Times Picayune, the public notices. I can send you a copy if you like. Thanks for giving me a choice of incompetent or liar, it is hard to decide.
Karen:
Although this parcel had been the home to both a grocery and a drug store, for the past 7 years there has been no grocery and for the past 5 (atleast) no drug store…it has just been blighted property. The leasees are proposing to build a drug store. A second potential leasee may be building a grocery store. These however are not both occupying the original footprint of the exsisting buildings…….. Yes, your angle on the building does in fact only show the K&B/Rite Aid side but everyone knows this property very well. Poor Wallace. Anger management?
Wallace seems to have evaporated. wish I could say I miss him. You are correct in your analysis that in the end this is just a piece of blighted property. Thanks for the clarification and I hope you return to see the updates.
