Officials from Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans charter school will meet at 5:30 p.m. today to interview three more candidates for its growing school board.
Tonight’s applicants include retired school administrator Ann Meese, AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust officer Tessa Jackson and ExxonMobil engineer Mari-Kate McEntee. The school shared candidates’ applications and resumes with The Lens.
Join me starting at 5:15 p.m. as I live blog this last round of planned interviews, hosted by the board’s five-person nomination committee. This is expected to be the final question and answer sessions with the candidates before the committee’s Wednesday meeting, during which they plan to discuss the applicants and decide who they will recommend to the full board on May 13.
The committee on Monday interviewed three others, which I also live-blogged. In April, Lycee’s board approved five new people to replace current board members whose terms end on June 30.
But that number wasn’t enough to fill the seven seats Lycée is require to have by state law — and it’s well short of the 11 maximum board members Lycée is allowed to have according to its bylaws.
The board is being transformed as part of a leadership and governance overhaul recommended by a consultant following a year of turmoil at the 340-student French curriculum charter school that included two CEO departures. Lycée is nearing the end of its second school year.
