This is a Private Demo I am posting to round out our library. We noticed the telltale spraypaint markings a week ago and today we got the early morning call of it’s demise. The photos on Flickr narrate the facts gathered at the scene. The owners of the building next door have acquired the lot and will expand their building. The building behind the Dunkin Donuts will also be demolished but it must first be cut away from it’s parent building, a much older structure. It’s certainly in a high-profile area of the Lower Garden District.

  1. Now that you’re back in my hood, I felt I needed to comment.

While my portly physique will certainly give away the fact that I really miss the Dunkin Donuts/Baskin & Robins, I don’t know that it’s demolition is a loss. This is probably a good example of not the most aestetically pleasing newer buildings in the Lower Garden District along St. Charles.

I think the only thing historic and squanedered here was that chocolate Bavarian Creme that slipped between the coffee machine and cash register in 2004.

  2. Squanderedheritage reports all demolitions; it doesn’t matter how historic or important the architecture of the building is.

  3. Randall,

I understand. My point was that some demolition is actually positive and should be regarded as such.
