This week on Behind The Lens, Super Bowl LIX is fast approaching and New Orleans will host tens of thousands for the game, and hundreds of millions are expected to watch on TV. With so much attention on the city, Governor Jeff Landry announced the opening of “The Transition Center”, a shelter designed to house people living in various encampments throughout the city, many of which were close to the Superdome. Some critics and city leaders are concerned about the location of the facility and lack of coordination with local officials.

The Descendants Project filed suit last week in District Court against Greenfield Louisiana LLC, the Port of South Louisiana, and the St. John the Baptist Sheriff. In the filing, the nonprofit alleges that by reducing Greenfield’s tax burden, the Port and the Sheriff violated the state constitution.

Our guests this week are Lens reporters Nick Chrastil, Delaney Dryfoos and Managing Editor Katy Reckdahl.
