Why do they want to demolish?
To build a larger home.
The demo permit for this place starts with,
“DEMOLISH HURRICANE DAMAGED SINGLE TO GRADE AS PER OWNER’S REQUEST.”
The city’s damage estimate wizard shows the hurricane damage percentage for this house to be:
0%
In fact, almost every house on Henry Clay has a damage percentage of zero or just below 1%, including the entire 1500 block.
first, a picture of the wrong house, a beautiful yellow victorian, was placed on this website, marked with our address, and left for weeks as such. second, i don’t know where karen gadbois gets her info, but i, the owner, have never voiced a desire to build a larger house. in fact, we want to build a smaller one. i have spent the last 15 years of my life renovating an historic home in the lower garden district. third, we have never claimed that the home was damaged by any hurricane. i would very much like to know from where this misinformation is coming.
