  • This is not 2240 S. Lopez St. The house at that address is a split-level. Just wanted to let you know.

  • Sorry, I was incorrect. This is the right house at 2240 S. Lopez St.

  • It is hard to discern the correct address on this one so I can undersatnd the confusion. It is a split level when viewed from the front.

  • natural

While in many cases of HCDRC demos, there are alternatives, this house really needs to come down. It’s has been unoccupied for nearly a decade and has been a disgusting blight on the neighborhood for just as long. The picture doesn’t do justice to the amount of ruin on this place.

  • I agree

This really needs to go there is nothing significant about it.

Such a waste. My wife grew up there 2240 S. Lopez raised by her loving parents Oscar and Lillian Owens. It’s sad to see what has happened to New Orleans up to now.

  • Ken. That is now a vacant lot.

One of the reasons we started this blog was to remind people of places long gone.

  • Ken Foret

Too bad. I wish you all the best in recovery, but from afar it looks to be a daunting task to bring NOLA back to what it was when I grew up there.
