Miller-McCoy Academy leaders heard a financial presentation on the budget at their monthly meeting, April 28.
Treasurer David Bailey said the school needs a used bus. Chairman Michael Todd said the cost would not exceed $58,400. The purchase was approved unanimously.
The school’s chief executive, Walter Strong, urged signing a two-year contract with Teach For America to provide instructors, especially in the areas of math and science.
“We should cast a wide net,” Strong said. “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
Bailey acknowledged that some aspects of the budget were disappointing and vowed a close review.
“I don’t want to dwell too much on the balance sheet, but I do want to look at where we’re going,” Bailey said.
