Behind The Lens episode 241: ‘Radical Black joy’

This week on Behind The Lens, in a city that is synonymous with music, that’s be the driving force behind several local Juneteenth commemorations. Reporter Mizani Ball talks through her story on the historical and ongoing struggle for civil rights in the city and how that has been expressed through music in New Orleans.

A teacher has allegedly been terminated after an incident at a local charter school in which a 13 year old was held by the teacher while another student punched him. The same teacher had been involved in a similar incident at another school 8 years ago, raising concerns about background checks into school personnel.

Our guests this week are Lens reporters Mizani Ball and Marta Jewson, and managing editor Katy Reckdahl.
