This week on Behind The Lens, a massive project to restore marshland is underway in the Barataria Basin, an area that has lost over 276,000 acres of land in the past 90 years. In the space of a few days, Lafayette Academy was told it would close, then its fate was reversed, and parents and teachers are still trying to catch their breath.

And carnival season is here. A parade celebrating Martin Luther King Jr., returned to its historic route on St. Claude Avenue this year in a deliberate attempt to restart the celebration on that route after it faded away post Katrina.

Our guests this week are Lens reporters Delaney Dryfoos, La’Shance Perry, Marta Jewson and managing editor Katy Reckdahl.
