Collegiate Academies board accepts resignation of Dana Henry

The board of Collegiate Academies met Wednesday night to accept the resignation of community outreach committee director Dana Henry. Henry has entered the race for the New Orleans City Council District E seat, recently vacated when  Councilman Jon Johnson’s abruptly resigned. According to state law, no one running for a public office can also sit on a public school board. The board plans to invite Henry to return if his campaign is unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, the board continues to wait for final enrollment numbers to come in on October 1 before they can adapt their  per-pupil revenue forecasts. Finance committee member Bill Langenstein said that some post-budget hires have increased spending on salary and benefits, but the board should still see a surplus at year’s end.
