Mayor Mitch Landrieu is close to scoring some legislative paydirt with passage of a bill that would shrink the number of judges at Orleans Parish Juvenile Court by a third, saving the city and state almost $1 million annually by one estimate.

In addition to opening the pools, NORDC [New Orleans Recreation Development Commission] is offering more than 30 summer youth and teen camps across the city this year which will feature a wide array of academic, cultural and recreational summer activities. All summer camps include free-of-charge field trips to Aquarium of the Americas, Audubon Zoo, and NORDC pools for swimming lessons, as well as free breakfast and lunch every day for campers aged 18 and under.
