Check here for Orleans public schools’ opening days

Editor’s note: This story is about opening days for the 2013-14 school year.

It’s that time again.

Across the city, more than 40 different school districts’ bells will ring at different times throughout August, and the seemingly simple task of remembering your child’s first day can be daunting.

That’s especially true if your child attends a charter school that has recently changed operators, and you aren’t sure whom you should be calling anymore. Or if it’s got a new building, but you only have the old phone number. Or if you’ve got kids in different schools.

Considering the calls we get each year from parents looking for school start times and orientation information, we know, it’s not easy keeping track of it all.

So The Lens is doing it for you. We’ve compiled a list of every school’s first day, easily accessible from our home page or our Charter School Reporting Corps pages.

We  also are providing a one-stop shop of school contact information for folks with questions only the schools can answer, such as the cost of any enrichment fees or a list of vendors selling the school’s uniform.

So feel free to use your browser’s search function and search for your school of choice on this page.

Best wishes for a successful school year.

Jessica – you have done a masterful job of compiling all of this information as to when parents should ensure that their child(ren) should report to school. At the same time, I must confess that this is absoute madness. In the meantime, nonprofit charter boards continue to misappropriate public funds, make academic mistakes which students pay for “in years”… and the public (1) just doesn’t care (2) is too busy (3) does not understand the depth of the problems…on and on and on
