I don't know how anyone can misunderstand whether one will be paid for the training or not. What part of that communication would anyone not understand? Either one is a paid contractor which implies "training" or, a volunteer willing to be trained with an understanding that you might not be hired, therefore your training will have been in vain--no paycheck. I just don't get it. Is this not a duplication of the "who's to blame" fiasco going on regarding the oil spill? Sounds to me like a breakdown in communication from the very beginning.
